Is ear-squat an intimate body search or abuse of power?

I still remember during my primary school time, when ever I don't behave myself, either I have to stand or doing an ear squat right infront all my fellow class mates.

To me, or most of the Malaysian, ear squat none other than a punishment. I still don't understand if the police wanted to conduct a intimate body search, wants the said woman to squat in order to verified whether any unwanted object being kept by her in her body, is it necessary to ordered her to pull her ear while squat?

Police is not medical expert, why can't they called a qualify doctor to do the examination? Since the government has all the resources, ie: government hospital doctorsssssssssssssss.

I agree with the Malaysian Medical Association's statement by its president Datuk Dr Teoh Siang Chin:-

"..... some suggestions that doctors be used when there is need for intimate examination of prisoners or those in remand."

".... it is clear that when doctors are involved, there is an ethical obligation to seek the person's consent. The MMA is clear in its stand that intimate body searches should not be carried out without the consent of the person."

"When consent is refused, this should be recorded and the refusal respected. The court can always weigh the refusal to give consent negatively but no examination should be done without consent. In some rare instances, an intimate search may be justified in order to save the person's life when, for example, a toxic substance is being concealed."

"The MMA urges that the authorities review the need for intimate body examination and the procedures to be followed. This type of examination should be restricted to situations where there is a real need and should not become a routine."

absolute power = absolute coruption???

I feel very sick when i try to watch the video clip of a policewoman allegedly order a naked woman (most likely is Chinese) doing ear-squat in a police lock-up.

I just can't finished the whole video clip, as I can only watch few seconds and decided not to continue.

I don't know how this police woman feels at that time? i just wonder whether she ever think (if she has brain) how the woman feel? or she is on her shoes?

Earlier, there are few Chinese nations complaints about police abuse of power, which has been highlighted by all the newspapers.

over the years that i've deal with police officers and rank-in-file, no doubt alot of them rally abuse their's power, but there are still some who is sincere and respect with their work and handle with professionally.

What mades our police quality drops? As Malaysia special branch was top 10 during 70's.

I'm in the view, our police is too powerfull, therefore absolute power create absolute corruption.

I feels greatful that the awareness of human rights in our society is better than 3 years ago, and luckily that we have alot of MPs who really look at national issue, not like some only on their own consituency and party members.
